AR was founded in 1952 and incorporated in 1954 by Edgar Villchur and Henry Kloss (see also KLH). Villchur owned the US-patent No. 2,775,309 for the acoustic suspension principle. The company went into liquidation in 2004 and the name was bought by Audiovox, a subsidiary of Thomson SA.
