The trade name "Webcor" that belonged to Webster-Chicago up to 1967 was acquired by "Consolidated Merchandising", part of U.S. Industries Inc.

Next to radios and tape recorders of Japanese origin there are also products such as hair-curlers being sold under the Webcor brand. Later products include cordless phones and calculators but also portable TVs.

For 1969 we know that Webcor division of Consolidated Merchandising exists. "Consolidated Merchandising" itself was a division of U.S. Industries Inc.

In 1970, there also is a Webcor Canada Ltd., fully owned by U.S. Industries. 

According to the "electron" magazine Sept. 1971 issue, "Consolidated Merchandising" was reorganized to form Webcor Electronics, division of U.S. Industries in mid 1971. 

This manufacturer was suggested by Wolfgang Scheida.
