  • The Zenith Stratosphere 16-A-61 (16A61) with chassis 1601 is a rare console radio with main chassis and power pack chassis, multicolored "airplane" dial, shadowgraph tuning, two speakers. The same chasis is also used for the Stratosphere 16A63. This Stratosphere 16A61 has no sliding doors over dial and is simpler in appereance. Lower section is also with inset rounded center panel with an other special grillwork over the speakers, flanked by two flat panels with similar grillwork. Ogee bracket feet and open back. There are two IF tubes with 5 tuned IF circuits and 3 tuned RF circuits. The two (one is big) loudspeakers fields are fed with two rctifier tubes.

    In "Pre-War Consoles"; Stein, 2000 on page 221 this cabinet is presented in error as model "58" = 12A58 and 12L58.
