Later models equiped with the AC series Transistors at the

power amplifier.

At least with the stampcode WR 08.

With that code I found 1964 and 1965 models.

So check your database for correct pictures and Transistor line-up.

I see fi the /22A in your database with a AC128 line-up, mentiond OC but as seen

through the pic's it has AC-Transistors

To be notised by the difference in PCB, having NTC's in the Power-Amp.

And so the schematic shown at the EL3547A/00A isn't quite correct.

The transistor line up is indead AC but schematic still shown the OC series.

So make a note of that in the spec's of the machines at RM-org.

Time to correct those mistakes.

Mine EL3547A/00A with WR 08 code out of november 1965 has the AC-line-up.

At www freeservicemanuals.info the schematic is found with also the AC-lineup.

Is that november 1965 (week number would be between 44 and 48) or week 11 1965? I noticed on the transistorforum that your output transformers are from week 08 1965.

I noticed there are some more possible mixups and dubious country assignments to the various EL3547 models, some more research is probably needed to untangle those models.

I would suggest in the mean time, you start a new model with pictures from your EL3547A/00A as this number is not yet present and add your transistor line-up to that one. The second A might or might not refer to the different configuration, this is not yet clear to me. I tought of putting WR08 in the variant field, but it might be better to put in the remarks.

Hallo Mr. Hamm and Mr. Bakker,

have a look on this different Austrian models:

Philips Maestro 40 EL3547A/30 mit Endstufe OC74, year 1962

Philips Maestro 40 EL3547A/30 mit Endstufe AC128, year 1964

That is the explanation.

Regards WB.

Thank you!

Your new entry is a good start for untangling the different models, but we still have to find out how to see the difference without opening up the machine. My current working theory is that WR08 and the second A in the model type have something to do with that even if the documentation you uploaded doesn't show that.

The pictures by Sjaak van Schaik in the model page that you propose to change to the OC74 variant, might possibly be for the EL3547A/00A with AC128 so they would need to be moved to the page that I asked Maurice to create. I will try to find out whether that's the case.

Saidly not all collectors take good pictures of their collection and so bit hard to

find out the exact.

As for the Service Notifications that are available till.
Think just put in the field of transistorS behind "-Or 2x AC125 and 4x AC128.
And in the note-field as I suggest the remark After WR 08 code the output amplifier is changed.
That is for both the machines /00A and /22A, the 22A = the RK36!

-> Just to notise the persons with a defect EL3547 to look for the schematic with the AC-line-up if the have a WR-08 change code.

I think that covers enough the problem.

More model pages just makes it cloudy./ Do not make 2 -00´s or -22´s It has no use.
If so you have to make a modelpage for every new change And example Philips made a LOT.

-> second the Year mentiond at the /00A must be 62/65 instead of 64/65 and covers the /00A complete Oc and AC-lineup.

The available Service Notafications as on RM-org or at the manual Freeservicemanuals.info does not give a solution. But is seen the Service Info of 26-jun-1964 Rc.-026 a lot is changed.

WR 07 (08 63) > EL3547/00A with serial nr: nr.038762 and
WR 07 (38 64) > EL3547/22A sn. 115922
WR 08 (48 64) > EL3547-22A sn. 121501
WR 08 (14 65) > EL3547-00A sn 131223

So the WR 08 1946/1965

Also the manual Freeservicemanuals.info at page 27 give a lot more models with that AC-line-up schematic.

EL3547/16A, MD9125A/16, EL3547/17. EL3547/19 and the SA9125A/19.

Look at that manual at page 27.

I agree: If the difference in transistor line-up turns out not to coincide with the second A in the model number, the number of entries would potentially triple or even quadruple when variants [AC128] and [OC74] or variants [up to and including WR07] and [from WR08] are introduced and /.. and /..A are also split up. This could potentially cause more confusion than it solves, make it cloudy as you say.

Nevertheless, models with and without that second A exist, and this should also be reflected somewhere in the rm.org entries.

More research is needed to determine the best course of action, meanwhile it might be best to leave the situation as it is now with only one model and its Horny cousin split up in variants, and this forum thread to be found as a warning at another model. Someone who notices the difference and needs to know about it, will now find this information.

Wish list:

- data from more examples (I will mail the forementioned owner and see if I can dig up my own EL3547), I'll add the data to my workset and to this thread as it turns up. One of the goals is to determine at which WR-number (if any, there could be a different correlation) the additional A in the model number turned up.

- the change notification mentioning the WR08 change should be found, as both the Austrian sheet kindly uploaded by WB and the separate schematic that was added to the freeservicemanuals doc may only give partial information.

- maybe input from someone who knows or at least has a theory about the meaning of the first and second A, or about the letters in those positions in the model numbers of various Philips tape and cassette recorders in general.

The service bulletin found at model EL3547A/22 RK36 and EL3547A/22A RK36, mentions the second letter A as an indication for the 1,5W amplifier with the newer transistors. The revision levels WRxx have no bearing on this apparently, though it seems introduction may have been sometime around WR07. I assume this goes for the /30 model as well.
