Zenith TV model type codes from the 1950ies:
You will find enclosed a helpful schedule to identify a 1950ies Zenith television set:
Please note there are also exeptions!
Example TV type: T1814R(U)
First letter indents year of manufacturing/running era i.e.: T = 1955
Years:
G: 1950
H: 1951
J: 1951/52
K: 1952
L: 1953
M: 1954
T: 1955
X: 1956
Y: 1956
Z: 1956/57
A: 1958/59
B: 1959
C: 1959
D: 1959
Next both numbers indents approximately the freely picture screen diameter i.e. 18”
Next both numbers seems to be an internal Zenith type number – could help to find the common series of seperated found models.
Last letter indents the cabinet color, wood finish or leather imitation – i.e. R often (not always) for mahogany
Color/wood codes:
Non letter: wood walnut
B: Blue
R: wood mahogany or maroon
E: wood blonde / oak blonde / limed oak
G:
H: cherry wood
J:
L: silver & cork texture
M: maple
W: (mahogany)
Y: ebony
Z: walnut
An U on the last digit stands for fitted with an UHF tuner.
