From 1920 to 1931, with the emergence of a national railway system extending north-south, Pyuntaza emerged as a railway center town.
|
Description
|
In 2004, MR had approximately 40 oil-fired steam locomotives, of which about a dozen were serviceable and saw occasional use on goods, local passenger and tourist trains. Up to three heavy repairs are performed per year using locally-manufactured parts.
In Pyuntaza are 14 locomotives, some of them shall be reconditioned to be used at tourist trains.
Railway staff want to persuade the Government to install a railway museum. |
