Hello from the U.S. of A.! This is my first post, so I hope I'm doing it right! I am proud to be a member of such a valuable organization and am looking forward to a long and mutually rewarding relationship. I am in need of an English translation of the alignment instructions of the Grundig Stereo Decoder 6. I have schematic and instructions in German only. I have necessary test equipment except stereo generator. Any assistance will be much appreciated! Gary Tidwell OLD RADIO MAGIC!

Dear Gary, I would like to help you, at least regarding the translation. My information about the decoder 6 descend from a small book, entitled "Stereo-Decoder - Funktion und Schaltungstechnik", author Ludwig Ratheiser, published in 1968 by Franzis Verlag München. Ratheiser describes function and alignment.
But in his instructions he refers to the SC1-stereocoder, and without such equipment it will be impossible to get a satisfactory result. Is ist possible for you to rent or buy a coder ? Best regards Rolf |

In the meantime, I have tried to translate the alignment instructions, You find them as a PDF-file in the attachment below. But it seems, You have to get hands on a Stereo coder, to perform the aligment procedure correctly, kind regards Martin Boesch |

Gentlemen,
please look here /Mehr Pläne/ grundigdecoder6.pdf. for additional information and a wiring diagram in better quality. Gary, do you know the reason for the misalignment of your decoder ? Please check the potentiometers (carefully !) and the pins of plug and socket-outlet for connection with the radio. They are usually oxidized. Best regards Rolf |

Hello Rolf,
I appreciate your input. I have a copy of the schematic and other papers on the Grundig Stereo Decoder 6. I am also very thankful to Martin Bösch for translating the alignment procedure to English.
This decoder has been installed in a Fisher 101-R AM/FM mono tuner. (not by me) The tuner works good and the stereo light comes on, but audio sounds like mono (no channel separation). It worked good in past. Tubes are good. I think coils have been "adjusted"??
I have not been able to find a stereo generator on eBay. Difficult to find. Please look at this: http://www.helmut-singer.de/stock/1310.html - Is this same as Stereocoder SC 1?
Regards,
Gary

Dear Gary, as I told you in my email, the solution shown by you will be the best - I think this generator is refurbished and like new. But it is very expensive. My proposals: If you are not in a hurry, try at first a little printed board multiplexer from tugicom in combination with a signal generator or cd-player as source. If you want to supply the radio from "RF-direction", you could connect this generator e. g. with a FM transmitter from ELV. Best regards Rolf |
