Der Apparat verfügt über zwei Oszillatorsysteme auf zwei verschiedenen Zwischenfrequenzen (ZF). Dieses Prinzip gibt es bei Rundfunkempfängern aus Preisgründen sehr selten, doch bei kommerziellen und Amateurgeräten besserer Qualität ist das Verfahren öfters anzutreffen. Sinngemäss gilt das auch für Dreifachsuper und Kombinationen davon.

Operates from 152 to 174 MHz range on a single frequency, telephone-type handset, choice of 0.5 or 1 watt output and dry cells or rechargeable wet cells batteries, the letters after the model number indicate the power level (this model LWS means Low power output, Wet Cells, Squelch) dry or wet cells and squelch, models HT-21 LDS and HT-21 HWS are the same except the output and power source, the selling price depents on the options chosen, starts at 225 ends at 300 USD, same as HT-21 LWS except frequency.
