Le poste ER12 est principalement utilisé pour la constitution du réseau de commandement au niveau divisionnaire. Il a également été utilisé par l’infanterie en montagne ainsi que par l’artillerie.
Il fonctionne en télégraphie sur ondes entretenues uniquement dans la bande de 500 à 1000 mètres et a une portée de 8 à 20 km.
L'unité ER12 comporte deux coffres te transport, contenient :
- boîte poste pouvant être montée sur trépied type ER17
- deux boîtes d'alimentation identiques à celles de l'unité ER17
- une boîte d'accessoires
- une sacoche de matériel d'antenne
- une tente-abri
L'alimentation est identique à celle de l'ER17. Le schéma de principe est identique à celui de l'ER17, sauf :
- une seule self couvre toute la gamme de réception
- la gamme d'émission est couverte par un jeu de deux selfs, mise en service par un commutateur PO-GO
- l'antenne est dépourvue de tout système d'accord
- le contrôleur d'ondes est muni d'un lampe au néon

One of the co-editors of Radio Age magazine and collector friend Ed Lyon is looking for further information on his early French military set. He sent me this note:
Hi, Joe:
Well, things are getting back to normal after the hubbub of RadioActivity. I completely forgot a major reason I was anxious to see you at the meet. I had uncovered an old French military transmitter-receiver that I had acquired many years ago, and buried, un-inspected, along with some other gear on a back shelf. It is a transmitter-receiver using five triode tubes,. These tubes are French, made by Mazda, labeled T.M.-2. There were also two spare tubes, new in boxes, in the accessory case, labeled TM-2 (without the periods). The radio set is labeled Poste Emetteur-Recepteur ER-12. There is spotty data on it at a French URL, showing some pictures, but little else. The pictures here:
The tubes are metal, (steel, as evidenced by rust spots on them), either zinc (or tin)-plated or painted with Aluminum paint, 4-pin (as in very old French triodes, say 1918-1922). I wondered if you or your colleagues on radiomuseum have anything on this set. I estimate it as being from 1923-1927, but am surprised at finding metal tubes with such a date. I wrote to Lud about them, but no answer yet.
