    Three motors. Three speeds: 4.75 / 9.5 / 19 cm/s( 1.7/8 / 3.3/4 / 7.1/2 ips). Max spool Ø: 18 cm. Frequency range at 19 cm/s: 40-20000 Hz. Stereo amplifier with 2 output stages each 10 W. This unit can operate in horizontal and vertical position. Output for external speakers with exclusion of the inside. Jack for stereo microphone and earphones. Inputs for Tuner, Tape, Aux and Phono.

    HiFi Stereo record and play two tracks. Mono four tracks. In mono mode with a normal tape, 1.0 mils thickness, at 1.78 ips (4.75 cm/sec.) we can record about 12 hours.

    Each button (Start, Stop, F.Forw, Rew, Play, Rec), controls the relative electronic board. All commands are executed by servocontrols with some relays. Considering the numerous problems, with the following model N4420, Philips has returned to the electromechanical controls.
