  • Notes
  • Note the "RDR" logo in the middle of the label. The 2-piece cap is the on/off/volume and tuning controls, and the bakelite base contains the speaker (facing downward). The 4-tube chassis is inside the 'bottle' and gives reception to rather strong stations only. The real brownish glass bottle is specifically made for this radio and not adapted from an existing bottle. There is a hole at the rear side.

The pilot light inside the bottle gives a warm and nice atmosphere. Please be very carefulwith the label because it looses the water soluble paint (not paper) if you try to clean it with a liquid. Often such radios have therefore lost its label, the tuning scale around the neck of the bottle es anyhow missing on most examples.

Does anyone know of a source for reproduction labels for the RDR Magic-Tone 504 "Whiskey Bottle Radio"?

I have seen them for sale on eBay years ago, but cannot seem to locate any now.

Thank you,

Bob Isaac
