I have a moderate-sized collection of U.S. and European antique radios from the 1920s - 1960s. Recently I have gotten quite interested in 1940s televisions, and I have several small screen electrostatic deflection sets as well as a few early magnetically deflected ones. I also have several mechanical phonographs -- both disk and cylinder types. I particularly enjoy electrical and mechanical repair and restoration of sets. I find the insides of antique radios at least as interesting as the outsides. I work as a research physicist in the hard disk drive industry in Silicon Valley.
