Description

Appeared also with (sprayed) metal shield

This tube was made by several US manufacturers and is unique in methods of shielding. Majestic and a few other manufacturers opted for the sprayed a metalized paint. Raytheon, Sylvania and National Union and others used fixed metal shields. Another variety had a stud on the side of the Bakelite base which was connected internally to the no 3 pin (clockwise from the left filament pin). In another variety, there was a pin (about 1.5-2mm diameter) in the side of the Bakelite base which had a wire soldered to it which rad up the side of the base, over the base lip and was connected to no 3 pin. In both latter cases the attachment of the shield was optional. Other similar tubes (6D7, 6E7) also had similar variations
