Description

UHF grounded grid mixer triode for radar receivers. Flanged steel body with grid connected; three coaxial feed-through pins for filament and anode from the bottom plate. Top glass vacuum seal. Mu 10, f max 3GHz. Designed for operation around 700 MHz, it was used in early 1-3GHz radar sets. Also made by TungSol

Introduced by WE in 1941; source: Waveguide Transmission by George C.Southwoth, Bell Labs Series, chapter IX.

The use of a vacuum triode as mixer in 10-cm radar receivers was preferred before the availability of reliable TR cells, due to the intrinsic protection against burnouts during the magnetron pulses.
