Audiola brand radios.

The Nordisk Solar Industri was established in 1919 by Jacob L. Jørgensen and Herluf Sørensen. The company focused initially on the sale of electricity meters. In the early years the company resided in a backyard in Railway Street 19. In 1923 they moved to Haderslevvej 25 (a building designed by Robert Waldemar Schmidt in 1922).

In the years thereafter the production of electricity meters was moved to Dansk Maalerværksted and at the same time the production of radios began. In 1930 the company became a limited company, in 1953 it was listed. Before that, the company had established branches in several Danish cities, the first in 1929: Aarhus, Nykøbing Falster.

In 1938 the production of radios was moved to the Audiola Radio company. After the introduction of television in the 1950s, the interest in radios declined, and production was stopped in 1958.

In the 1960s the Nordisk Solar Factory Yard was built, which today houses the School of Design. Danish Maalerværksted and Audiola moved in shortly thereafter. The year before saw the beginning of production of lighting devices, and in 1975 an industrial unit was established in Kolding.

At the end of 1920's or early 1930's they sold Philips tubes under the Audiola brand name. At least there is a tube with a label at the base with the text: Audiola, type HVD3, a/s Nordisk Solar Co. At the top of the glass is printed: Philips, 506, Miniwatt.
