Megatron Radio was founded in 1934 and established in Hilversum. One year later the name of the company was changed into "Radiolampenfabriek Megatron" and therafter into "Lampenfabriek Megatron", which reflected its main activity more than the original name. Main activity of the company was the production of radio tubes ("radiolampen"), but also radio parts like coils, coil systems, variable capacitors and radio construction kits, as well as a number of radio models were manufactured.

After financial problems in 1937, Megatron moved to the premises of Thermion in Lent (near Nijmegen) and changed its name into "NV Megatron". In 1938 Megatron again was facing financial problems. Production of radios was continued, however, as examples of radios are known dating several years later.
