Founded: 1906
History:

Rayovac was incorporated as the French Battery Company in 1906. They initially used Ray-O-Vac only as a brand name for their batteries, and changed the name of the business to Ray-O-Vac in 1930.

Radio tubes (in the standard receiving tube series) with this brand were made for them by one of the large manufacturers around this time.

In 1957, they merged with the Electric Storage Battery Co. (ESB), after which Ray-O-Vac was a brand and a division of ESB. The international business was still handled by different Ray-O-Vac companies around the world. After ESB was acquired by INCO Ltd in 1974, Ray-O-Vac's domestic and international operations were reunited.

Thomas and Judith Pyle bought the company from INCO in 1982 and changed the name to Rayovac Corporation. Ownership changed again in 1996 when the Thomas H. Lee Group bought 80 percent of Rayovac shares and brought them public in 1997.

This manufacturer was suggested by Wolfgang Scheida.
