Name: Midgetron, Park Royal Scientific Instruments Ltd.; London    (GB)
Abbreviation: midgetron
Products: Tube manufacturer
Summary:

Park Royal Scientific Instruments Ltd.
52 Minerva Road, London NW10

Park Royal Scientific Instruments Ltd. was an established instrument maker. In 1945 it decided to make miniature valves for hearing aids with the assistance of a husband and wife team who were working for the tube maker Hivac. This work for Park Royal Scientific Instruments Ltd was in their free time.

After establishing the manufacturing operations further Hivac staff were recruited to work at the week ends.

Three known tubes were manufactured and sold under the brand name "Midgetron".

Production: 1945 - 1947
History:

Hivac Ltd prosecuted Park Royal Scientific Instruments Ltd for employing their staff and their knowledge of Hivac techniques.  The ruling went in favour of Hivac as the operation was setting up a competitive operation to the detriment of Hivac's business.

Tube production ceased in 1947.

This case created a famous precedent for determining similar cases where employees were "moonlighting" to the detriment of their employers.

This manufacturer was suggested by Roy Johnson.
