History:
In 1649, Peter Thorwöste was granted the privilege of setting up a blast furnace and bar hammer in Fiskars and for the manufacture of cast iron and forged products. Fiskars continued as an ironworks and mining company until year 1822 the apothecary Johan Jacob Julin bought Fiskars ironworks and village. In his time, Fiskars diversified to the cutlery and machinery manufacturing.
In 1960'es Fiskars further diversified into the electronics industry producing power supplies and traffic light systems.
