The Philips from Eindhoven opens a representative company in Bucharest, Luterana str. 6 in the 1927-1928, selling electrical bulbs model Argenta. As the business grows the company was transformed in a Romanian Anonymous Societies, S.A.R. Philips. The company was busy whit commercial activities selling electrical components, radios, electronic valves and radio spare parts produced in the Nederland. Growing the business, the management decided in 1933 to build up a manufacturing shop in Oradea (in N-W of Romania). The company started to assembly different type of radios wits parts coming from Holland. Due to the political and historical facts the company moved his facilities to Bucharest, in 1934, continuing to assembly different type of radios whit, still imported parts. In the south of Europe and Balkan the market needs increased and it was decide to build in 1934-1936 a new manufacturing shop in Bucharest, Baicului str. Nr.82. Here 200 employees produced 10000 radio sets per year in 1939. During the second World War, 1939-1945, S.A.R. Philips went in crisis and in 1945-1948 started again to produce radios but in much lower scale. In 1948 the communist government nationalizes the private properties and S.A.R. Philips together with other small companies like Radiomet, Starck, formed a new factory Radio Popular. In the period of 1938-11 june 1948 it was produced 60994 radio sets. 1948, 29 october is the official date when S.A.R. Philips was trensformed in Radio Popular factory. |
