Founded by Gilbert Briggs in 1932, it was sold to the Rank Organisation in 1958 with Briggs staying on to manage the company until he retired in 1965.
Today Wharfedale is part of the International Audio Group, which has some of best known brands such as Quad and Mission in its stable.
