Founded at Melbourne in 1929, Sun Electric Co., were wholesalers and distributors of electrical kitchen/home products (toasters, electric jugs, etc.) with the Speedie brand. Around 1963 they became the sole Australian distributors for Toshiba until about 1973.

Between 1973 and 1979 they imported electronic goods from various Asian countries using the Rambler brand.

For a brief period between 1979 & 1981 the brand was replaced by Speedie for electronic entertainment devices.
