History:
Western Union has been synonymous with global communication ever since the founding of its parent company New York & Mississippi Valley Printing Telegraph Co. in 1851 . Later incorporated with Western Union Telegraph Company, New York, to Western Union International, Inc.
Incorporated under the laws of the State of Delaware.
By 1861 the company had already built up the transcontinental telegraph network that was so highly valued by both sides at the outbreak of the Civil War.
Developed the first stock-ticker on Wall Street in 1866, and was one of the stocks that made up the original Dow Jones Index.
Since 2001 Estern Union Internaional has been headquartered in Paris.
