Schneider Electric is an international company specializing in electricity and automation management.

They are not related to Schneider Radio-Television in France or the Schneider Rundfunkwerke in Germany.

Founded: 1838
History:

The brothers Eugène and Adolphe Schneider take over the Le Creusot foundries in 1836. Two years later, they incorporate Schneider & Cie.

Having become an armaments specialist, Schneider innovates by launching itself into the emerging electricity market in 1891. In 1919 Schneider creates subsidiaries in Germany and Eastern Europe via the European Industrial and Financial Union (EIFU).

In the 1960s they begin to concentrate on the electricty business, and 1981 the remaining non-related activities are sold off.

They acquire Télémécanique in 1988, Square D in 1991 and Merlin Gerin in 1992.

In 1999 the Schneider group changes its name to Schneider Electric.

This manufacturer was suggested by Konrad Birkner † 12.08.2014.
