Darelle Products manufactured radios with the “Darelle” brand. Initially manufacturing components and in early 1932 started manufacturing radio receivers. In 1933 the company started manufacturing hair dressing appliances and ceased radio production.

Founded: 1931
Production: 1931 - 1933
History:

After returning from 10 years in Hollywood California, Darelle Davis registered Darelle Products on May 19, 1931. [1][2] Their office, at 194 Pitt Street was also a Hairdressing College.[3]

Initially the company manufactured power transformers, power packs, chassis and radio mounting hardware.[4]

In December 1931 they advertised the Darelle Full Vision, Vernier Tuning Unit and a radio Chassis in which the power transformer was mounted under the chassis.[5]

The Wireless Weekly of March 4, 1932 published a letter from Darelle Products to all Radio dealers stating that as well as manufacturing radio components they will commence manufacturing receivers starting with the Model 327 Superheterodyne as their first model.[6]

The manufactured superhet radios only in 1932 and 1933. They implemented a model identification system in which the first two digits indicate the year and the third, the number of valves.

In late 1933, possibly due to increased competition from other Australian radio manufactures and a 6 fold increase in tariffs on imported hair drying appliances they stopped radio manufacture and started manufacturing  the Darelle, Ringlette Permanent Wave hairdressing appliance.[7][8]

They advertised their left over production of radios from their hairdressing showroom address at 131 Castlereagh Street, Sydney until, August 1934.[9]
