Boosey & Hawkes is a world-wide operating company having its roots in the two publishing companies Boosey and Hawkes.

They made instruments until the mid-1950s in their "Sonorous Works" in Middlesex. For a short time, wire and later tape recorders were also produced.

In 1948, the activities of Boosey & Hawkes and Associated Electronic Engineers in the field of magnetic wire recording were merged to form Wirek (Electronics), Ltd.
