Pars Electric Manufacturing Company was founded in 1962 for the manufacture and sale of radio and newly emerging television sets to the Iranian consumers by Mohammad Taghi Barkhordar (founder). The company consequently evolved into a holding company to encompass a chain of inter-related concerns which eventually played a crucial role in the home-appliance sector in Iran, producing an assortment of products ranging from radios, TV sets, refrigerators and freezers to light bulbs, fans, blenders, electric juicers, batteries and even carpets. The Pars Group collaborated, thereafter, with renowned international brands such as Toshiba, Schaub Lorenz, General Electric, Eveready, Grundig, etc. After the Islamic Revolution the Pars Group and all its individual comprising enterprises were nationalized by the government through the agency of the newly established "Nationalized Industries Organization of Iran" in July 1979. |
