History:
The Uzina e Radio - Televizorëve ( URT, radio and TV works ) at Durrës, Albania was founded in 1963 as a unit of UEM (electro-mechanical works ). It became independent in 1973-74. The production of radio sets began in 1965 and of BW television sets in 1969. The sets were made from imported components. Lines for producing printed circuit boards, magnetic tapes, metal and plastic parts were set up in the following years. A pilot production of colour TVs under a Blaupunkt licence started in the 80es, as well as the production of equipment for factory automation. During the years dozens of different radio and TV sets, tape recorders, measurement, command, and control instruments were manufactured. The production was mainly for the domestic market. URT ceased to operate in 1990 due to the increasing foreign competition.

This manufacturer was suggested by Konrad Birkner † 12.08.2014.
