Founded by Ashok Shewa of Indian origin.  He was born in British Raj era in Sindh (now in Pakistan). He left India in 1968 for Hong Kong, Canada, and the USA, but moved to Japan in 1969.

Founded: 1970
Production: 1970 - 2000
History:

In the 1970's, Cassette Car Stereos were very expensive and made by only a few companies (Philips, Sony, Clarion and Fujitsu), with pricing around $300.

Ashok Shewa thought that it would be possible to make Cassette Car Stereos from Cassette Tape Recorders that were selling at around $50.  He invested in a small factory of a friend in Himeji, acquired a new building, organized a production line, and named the company Shebro Electronics Ltd.

Shewa made Cassette Car Stereos for $35 and received large orders from regular Shewa customers mostly in the UK and Europe.  With the arrival of the IC age, smaller Cassette Tape Recorders were possible and Shewa made the DCS (digital control system).  Shewa made many audio products under the Shebro brand and opened an office in Frankfurt (Germany).

Around 1984, high Japanese labor cost could not compete with other upcoming Asian countries, and production was shifted to assembling personal computers, including parts and peripherals.  The Frankfurt (Germany) office also was relocated to Los Angeles (USA).

From 2000 on, Japan lost its competitive edge in computer parts and Shewa scaled down production in Japan and sold the Himeji factory.  It became a subcontractor for the brands Nintendo and Panasonic, and possibly others.

Main businesses currently are Real Estate and Solar Farms.

This manufacturer was suggested by Michael Watterson.
