The company was founded founded by David Bloom as Paul Sewing Machine Company on Genesee Street in Buffalo, NY. They sold retail sewing machines. In 1960, the company's name was changed to Mercury Radio & Battery Corporation and they began selling wholesale electronics. The first transistor radio was sold by Mercury Radio in 1960. David Bloom was a Buffalo native and died in 1989 at the age of 78. |
