Abbreviation: fleetwood
Products: Model types
Summary:

Fleetwood Television Pty. Ltd.
69 Clarence Street, Sydney (1956)

Fleetwood was a division of Philips Electrical Industries Pty. Ltd. Their models were based on Philips models, but differently badged with slight styling variations.

Fleetwood products were distributed throughout Australia, with the exception of Western Australia, by Lawrence & Hanson (Electrical) Pty. Ltd., electrical distributors and wholesalers (est 1886). In Western Australia Fleetwood was distributed by Harris Scarfe & Sandover Ltd. Other distributors include Bloch & Gerber (Sydney), Noyes Bros (NSW & QLD), Sun Electric Co. (Melbourne), Howard Electrical & Radio Co. (Melbourne), Burns Philp & Co. (Brisbane), Gerard & Goodman (Adelaide) and Harris Scarfe (Adelaide).

Founded: 1955
Production: 1955 - 1959
History:

Fleetwood Television Pty. Ltd. was established on 10 Oct 1955 in Sydney, with the same address on 69 Clarence St. as Philips.[1][2]

According to John W. Stokes [3], the Australian Mullard company changed their name to Fleetwood in 1955.

The company entry in the Australian registry still exists as of 2021 under the name of Coolawin Holdings. It's currently unknown when the name was changed.

From an article in the Silicon Chip Vintage Radio column, August 2015:
The Fleetwood brand name supposedly comes from a Lancashire, England coastal town of that name with a history of seafaring, hence the ship on the logo. Mullard (UK), a subsidiary of Philips, established two factories at Fleetwood in 1949 and 1951. In early 1955, Mullard Australia ceased to market their Philips sourced radios and radiograms. By mid 1955 the Fleetwood brand appeared on the market with versions of the latest Philips models. There is an overlap with two Mullard & Fleetwood portable models based on the same Philips versions. These include Mullard/Fleetwood models 1051 & 1052 (Philips models 134 & 148). Fleetwood branded (Philips made) radios were also sold in New Zealand.
