T.C. Beirne Pty. Ltd. was a major department store chain in Brisbane with several branches throughout Queensland. From 1925 they retailed radio parts and imported radios.[1]

From 1932 they retailed radios made by Australian Manufactures with some radios branded as “Beirne”. [2][3]

History:

Thomas Charles Beirne (1860 – 1949), draper and importer, opened his first store in Brunswick Street, Fortitude Valley, in 1891. In 1902 the company built a large department store in Duncan Street, Fortitude Valley. The growth and expansion of TC Beirne Pty. Ltd. continued for the first half of the twentieth century.[4]

Beirne died on 21 April 1949.[5]  The company was sold to David Jones & Co. in November 1961.[6]
