J & A Margolin Ltd. started trading in 1934 selling accordions, and then built Plus-a-Gram record players for use principally with radios via their gram inputs.

Many models were produced between the mid 1930s and early 1950s.

In 1952 J & A Margolin started  manufacturing record players with built-in amplifiers and loudspeakers under the Dansette brand name (see Dansette Products Ltd).

A few Plus-a-Gram models continued to appear in Dansette catalogues into the late 1950s.
