Izhevsk is the capital city of the Udmurt Republic in Russia, more than 1.100 km east of Moscow. In 1961, manufacturing complex equipment for the space has been started at the Izhevsk Radio Works. This includes satellite communication and radio navigation. The state-owned company exists still today and has become an industrial giant of the space industry and part of the Russian Federal Space Agency.
