GEC-AEI Telecommunications (UK)

Established in 1967 as a Management Company of GEC to bring together previous GEC and AEI business units. They manufactured electric, electronics & telecommunications equipment in the UK and was sold throughout the world by distributors.

The electrical industry was revolutionised in 1967 when GEC acquired the much larger Associated Electrical Industries (AEI), which encompassed Metropolitan-Vickers, BTH, Edison Swan, Siemens Brothers and Co, Hotpoint, W. T. Henley and other companies.

By 1968 Subsidiaries included:

•             GEC-AEI (Electronics)

•             GEC-AEI Telecommunications

•             GEC Computers and Automation

•             GEC (Process Engineering)

•             GEC Road Signals

1968 Production was concentrated at Coventry, Glenrothes, Hartlepool, Newton Aycliffe, Kirkcaldy and Middlesbrough. [1]
