Brandes was 1908 established in Toronto, Canada; acquired by the American Telephone and Telegraph Company (AT&T) in 1922.

British subsidiary was established in 1924 to produce headphones and soon speakers, horns as well as cones.

1926 the parent company was renamed to "Kolster Radio Corporation of America"(see there).
1928 the British branch renamed to Kolster-Brandes (see there).

Brandes was a well known brand for headphones.
