Summary:

Bandmaster Limited
20a Cordiner Street Glasgow Scotland G44 4TY

In 1975, the Scottish company GR International Ltd, owned by two brothers who both happened to be musicians, designed and manufactured a rhythm machine called the Powerhouse. [1]

The company also manufactured cassette recorders for hi-fi music centres, and designed the Powerhouse to take eight-track cartridges loaded with drum loops, apparently performed by a top session drummer. The loops could then be subjected to a degree of processing using the Powerhouse’s controls, which included a tempo control and a balance knob for mixing two related rhythms.
