Summary: |
Meerding & Goedhart was founded in 1919 in Helmond, Holland. The founders are Klaas Meerding and Willem Goedhart. In 1920 the production of radio receivers was started by Mr. Meerding. The receivers were built to customer specification. In 1927 the production method was changed, the product range was now limited to a small selection of standard models. In 1927 the brand name becomes MEGO, the new models are D1, D2, D3, D4 and D5. No successors of these models did appear on the market. Model D4 was rather succesful, hundreds of Mego D4 sets were sold. In 1929 Mego switched to a semi-professional market segment introducing a radiogram called the Mego-Caller. The Caller was used in dancings and other public places. In 1934 the production of all Mego sets was stopped. The firm continued with other activities. In 1940 Meerding & Goedhart was split-up in two firms, Meerding and Goedhart. |
