History:

Established in 1893 by Lauritz Peter Knudsen (born 12th Nov. 1863 in Odense, died 18th Feb. 1917) as a watch and clockmaker's shop.

After his death in 1917, the installation business was sold while the factory was continued under the name Laur. Knudsen A/S.

The company merged with Danish rival NES to form LK-NES in 1968. The "NES" was later dropped from the name.

in 1990 they were taken over by the Danish NKT group.

LK merged with the Finnish Ahlstrom Group's electrical equipment division in 1995 forming Lexel A/S. Lexel joined the French Schneider Electric in 1999, first as independent group, then in 2003 becoming a Schneider subsidiary.

The company changed its name from LK A/S to Lauritz Knudsen A/S in 2004. A year later they merged with the Danish subsidiary Schneider Electric Denmark A/S.

The two companies are merged into a single company in 2007, in 2009 the branding is changed to Lauritz Knudsen by Schneider Electric.
