The company started manufacturing components and portable battery-powered radios in 1923. In 1925 they opened two branches, 15 High Street, Exeter & 45 High Street, Poole. [1] In the April 1926 edition of The Electrician, they announced they were building a new factory in Bedminster, Bristol. [2] Capt. L. W. Davies representing the company toured 32 West England carnivals in a specially equipped motor van to give lectures and advertise Mullard radio valves, Amplion speakers, and Automobile Accessories (Bristol) Ltd., products.[3] Davies's lecture on Wireless Production Difficulties and the van tour in the January 12 edition of Wireless World is below. Wireless Production Difficulties. " Its moral effect is terrific," said Capt. L. W. Davis, in a racy description of a certain lightning arrester in the course of his lecture before the Bristol and District Radio Society on Friday, Dec. 31st. The lecturer, representing Messrs. Automobile Accessories (Bristol), Ltd., dealt specially with the interesting range of wireless components produced by that firm, including sixteen types of receivers. An interesting account was given of the difficulties encountered in the quantity production of radio apparatus, and the lecturer followed this with a graphic description of his experiences when touring the West of England with a radio demonstration van. The van contained several receivers together with a large power amplifier adapted both for speech amplification and gramophone reproduction. [4] The company was in Liquidation by June 1929.
