Summary:	Orion Rádio (Magyar Wolframlámpa-Gyár Kremenezky János R.T.); Váci-út 77, Újpest, Ungarn (1943). Other names: "Ungarische Wolframlampenfabrik, Joh. Kremenezky AG Budapest", also known as "Ungarische WLF" or "UWF" respectively. Swiss agency: J. Kastl; Dietikon ZH [3331447] (after WWII: Apco AG Zürich). Orion worked with General Electric USA. After the war production was exported by the Elektroimpex export trading company in Budapest. Based on Gerald F.J. Tyne (Saga of the vacuum tube, Prompt Publications, 1977, page 459), Orion tubes have been manufactured by Kremenezky except Budapest also in his factory in Vienna too.

History:	Founded in June 1913 by Vienna industrialist János Kremenezky as a subsidiary under the name of "Ungarische Wolframlampen Fabrik Joh. Kremenezky A.G. Budapest" (Magyar Wolframlámpa-Gyár Kremenezky János R.T.; Hungarian Tungsten Lamp Factory). In 1924, the company is listed as associated with the General Electric Company, Schenectady, N.Y., USA. In 1914 Mr. Kremenezky registered in Vienna and Budapest trade mark Orion. The company began tube and radio production in 1925 under this trademark "Orion". During the 1930s the company was an important manufacturer of high quality radio models, some of which were exported under the Tungsram trademark (The Norges Elektriske Materiellkontroll NEMKO lists "UWF" and "Ungarische WLF" as manufacturer for a range of Tungsram radios from 1937 - 1939). The company founded a distribution company (1931: "Svenska Orion Försaljnings A.B." Stockholm, 1948: "Orion Fabriks oh Försaljings A.B. Stockholm") which was nationalized after the war by the Swedish government. The issue was resolved around 1950 when new shares were issued so the Hungarian state could exercise its ownership rights. Since 1957 the company focused on the production of TV sets. Radio production was cancelled in 1964 and transferred to the Videoton company.
