Gegründet in den 30ern durch Dr. Arnold O. Beckman. Richtete nationale technische Labors in Pasadena, Kalifornien ein.
Dr. Beckman verläßt in den 40ern seine Wirkungsstätte im California Institute of Technology um sich vollständig dem wachsenden Unternehmen zu widmen. Neben der Einführung eines automatischen UV Photospektrometers patentiert Beckman seine Helipot Präzisionspotentiomenter und produziert sie unter dem Namen Helipot Corporation. Die Firma Arnold O. In den 50ern wird der Firmenname "Beckman Instruments Inc" erstmalig verwendet. Es werden 10 Firmen aquiriert, darunter die Berkeley Scientific Corporation und die Specialized Instruments Corporation (Spinco). Die Firma geht erstmalig an die Börse. Ein zweiter Produktionsstandort in München wird gegründet.
Heute hat sich die Firma neu ausgerichtet auf Diagnostik, Zentrifugen und Biotechnologie. Der Jahresumsatz erreicht 1 Milliarde US Dollar
