Name: BSR (Monarch); Great Britain    (GB)
Brand:
Birmingham Sound Reproducers
Abbreviation: bsr
Products: Model types
Summary:

Birmingham Sound Reproducers Ltd, Great Britain traded under the name BSR. Initially they manufactured high quality public address amplifiers and portable gramophone equipment.

Subsequently they moved into mass production of record players (turntables) and changers. Famous for low-cost, mediocre quality found in many contempory record players. In the 1960s also produced reel-to-reel tape recorder decks (pure mechanics, no electronics), TD2 and TD10. ....... Also traded in Germany as BSR (Germany) GmbH u. Co; 3011 Laatzen/Hannover (1966).

Production: 1933 - 1978
History:

Around 1970 was born also "Monarch" as an under brand.

In late 1970 BSR acquired by Peter Pritchard a new brand: “ADC” (Audio Dynamics Corporation). "ADC" started to produce cartridges and stylus during 1975. No other notices of this new brand. Now is indicated as “A BSR Company” with a large availability of phono cartridges and replacements stylus for many type of cartridges.

BSR closed all divisions in 1985, then moved all offices to Hong Kong, as “Astec(BSR)”.

In 1998 100% was acquired by Emerson Electric Company. Astec was abandoned by Emerson in January 2014.
