Edward Weston, 1850 - 1936, born in England he studied medicine (received his medical diploma at age 20), went 1870 to New York City where he was employed as a chemist. He became US citizen 1923. Inventor, designer, and manufacturer of electrical measuring instruments. Founder of the successful Weston Electrical Instruments Company. Inventor of the Weston-element, a voltage (EMF) reference unit in 1908, which became an internationally used standard. See there.
