Summary:

The Acoustical Manufacturing Co. Ltd, St. Peter Road, Huntingdon, England. Better known with their brand name "Quad", and still active.

Founded: 1936
History:
After working for EMI and GEC, audio master Peter James Walker founded in 1936 the 'Acoustical manufacturing company'. The company produced 'Public Address' systems and compact amplifiers (relatively speaking). In 1949, the company produced the 'Corner Ribbon Loudspeaker, producing higher frequencies than had ever previously been achieved. In the same year, the QA12/P was launched and the brand 'QUAD' was born from an acronym 'Quality Unit Amplified Domestic'.
Milestone in the history was the first full-range electrostatic loudspeaker 'Quad ESL', introduced in 1957.

This manufacturer was suggested by Georg Richter.
