Advice re: Technical Reference Materials for Beginners

Hello,

I'm a new member with no background whatsoever in electronics or physics (except for a physics course in college many years ago).  Can anyone recommend a primer for beginning radio collectors who wish to learn the basics of electronics relating to radios.  Any reference materials about the history of tube radios would also be greatly appreciated.
