In restoring radios, it has been difficult to find some of the dial light bulbs. For some time I thought I'd never find a source for the "ba7s" base used in German portables. These usually run at 6-7v. Finally, I found a the firm Farnsworth Electronics, with bulb page: www.farnsworthelectronics.com/miniaturelightbulbs.htm. They also provided the source for wedge based bulbs used in some Nordmende portables. The order desk has been very helpful, prices are reasonable, service excellent, and they do not have a minimum order amount.

Regards,

Ron

I am also having problems finding dial lamps for the 1932/1933 Saba's. They have a cone at each end and are 4V.

Thank you,
Donald Cochrane

Hi,
are these bulbs for your Philips 525A, by any chance?
If so, then according to my service data they were Philips
type 8046, if that's of any help, and I think the metal part
(bayonet fitting?) is 15mm. (9/16") diam.  (confirm?)
This is the same physical size as old fashioned car or m/cycle
side lamp bulbs,  though I don't suppose they come in less
than 6v.
If Georg or any of our Philips friends can't help you could break
out the glass (very carefully!) of the old ones and fit in an MES
holder, wire in a smaller bulb or even led's!
http://www.farnell.com  used to stock a wide range of bulbs,
might be worth a look.

Good luck,
                  John.

The german word for this type of lamp is Soffittenlampe.
There are lots of types in different lengh and diameters and voltages 4V I didn't find in a first look. 6V are ok.

Matiu,
if you can get some 6v. m/cycle bulbs, give 'em a go,
wouldn't go higher than 3w. max though, 2 or 2.2w. might just
give enough light.
Keep us posted,
                         John.
