eBay photos for RMorg.

Photos can provide valuable information in addition to the written data of a model.
Photos from the own collection are most welcome.

Often very informative and interesting photos are found in the internet:
1) from other websites photos are taboo without the written permission of the site owner. Such a permission has to be granted prior to a download.
2) from eBay: the seller should be asked for permission prior to photo download.
3) an eBay photo must not be used in RMorg before the auction is completed.
4) the picture legend to an eBay photo must quote the transaction number and the seller's (nick)name. The admins are advised to reject an eBay photo which is not marked accordingly.

It is understandable that a low quality photo on a radio page is better than no photo. Even very low quality photos taken from EBAY at least give some idea of what the radio model looks like - a good temporary step.

But, why are these poor quality photos not removed when bettter quality photos of that model are uploaded?

It would make sense to keep some of the low quality photos in instances where a better quality photo of a certain view hasn't been uploaded yet (ie. good photos showing the outside have been uploaded but none yet of the inside. Then keep only the low quality EBAY photo of the inside temporarily until one is).

Dear Peter
You are quite right! At least we have to sort the good and big sized pictures to the front.

There are three reasons why this does not always happen:
We show now 354,672 model pictures (195,049 from own collections). As an average, members upload about 200 pictures a day plus about 250 schematics!
Alone to have a look at them and activate them if correct is quite a daily voluntary task ... and more important.

Then comes the argument that uploaders had some work done and if we delete the pictures, they loose UACS points ...

Sometimes also a "bad" picture can reveil some different facts.

So mainly those three reasons let us most often by keeping the pictures.
I think the most important is that 933 pixel pictures of a main photo of the set, taken with an angle of a bout 15 degrees from one side and top - are our picture number one - as a middle sized picture. Ideal is also that the model shows original knobs etc. and is in good "shape".

I hope this helps for the understanding how we work.
I would like to stress the fact that we should have about two voluntary helpers (at least) from the USA!

Hello! I often search for auctions on several serbian websites similar to eBay - Limundo, Kupindo, KupujemProdajem, NajAukcije... and ocasionaly I find some models that are not in RadioMuseum database, like just now when I found Elektronska Industrija Niš - Luvus. Since this is eBay only topic, I would like to ask - could I submit new models and pictures from auctions from these websites too? Of course, after the auction is finished and after the seller give me a permision, like it is described in the first post in this topic.

Dear Danilo
Yes you can. You need to state the "sales place" (like eBay, Worthpoint, Limundo etc.), auction number and the seller.
By the way: It helps a seller even if we bring the pictures as early as possible! So we had changed the policy that an auction should be closed before we upload.

Since big other sites do even an automatic process for bringing such auctions, it is also allowed here to bring pictures if a seller does not answer or can not be reached.

Compare Worthpoint with eBay and you see what I mean - or the wonderful pages like "Collectors Weekly". Many years ago I spoke with the owner. We can use the pictures. You find it well via Google. He is clever and made a Wikipedia entry too.

Dear Danilo,
it is very important to check the data given by seller. Before creating a new model or upload pictures, please be sure that the model type is correct. If the type is to see on any of the pictures, like type label, than we have no problem.

If you will upload pictures to an existing model, please use only pictures with higher quality, than the older pictures have.

Kind regards,
Heribert   (Picture-Admin)
