In 1928, Portugal electric power was supplied in 110/190V DC and 220/380V AC. In 1938 was implemented a 15 years program to change it . Only in 1961 was standardized 220/440V AC in all country. That's the reason why in Portugal we have a lot of old radios for AC and DC mains, like PHILIPS, U models (last letter). These models are rare in Radiomuseum. It was an interesting solution. It was no need to change anything at all. We just plugged in indifferently to AC or DC mains. Mário Coelho
