I need help identifying several paper capacitors on the Grundig 2066 schematic.

C5X 0.1uF 250V (near R31). Need to verify C number and value.
C62 6.8nF 500V (near R37). Need to verify value.
C64 0.15uF 250V. Need to verify value.
C65 6.8nF 250V. Need to verify value.

Thank you,

Jeff

In restoring my Grundig 2066 I noticed a 4uF 70/80 V electrolytic capacitor (according to the schematic). What would be the best way to replace this? Use (4) 1uF caps in parallel? (at least 80V value of course).

 Hello Mr. Miller,
the correct values are:

C58  0,1 uF or .1MFD

C62  0,068 uF or .068 MFD

C64 0,15 uF or .15 MFD

C65 0,068 uF or .068 MFD

For the C47 4 uF 70/ 80V you can use:
4,7 uF or 4.7 MFD 63 to 100V

The greater value (4,7) have no affect on his function on the radio.

Normal tolerance of small electrolytic capacitor's are +/- 20% up to 30%

Best regards, H.M. Knoll

Thanks Hans.

Is C40 6.8nf or 68nF (0.0068uf or 0.068uf)?

C40 is below the EF89 tube in the schematic.

Hi Hans,

C39 is designated "Styroflex" (according to the graphic legend at the bottom left of the schematic). Should I also replace the Styroflex caps (what is Styroflex?) or just the paper caps ("papier" on the schematic).

Hello,

C40 is 500V paper,

C39 is   500V keramic.

Styroflex means: polystyrol
mostly used in the RF/ IF_section.

Hans, That's a nice looking copy of the schematic. Thanks. I have that section too but it looks like it was already copied several times by the time it was made into a .pdf file. Thank you for the help sir. This is a great group. I ordered my parts today for the Grundig 2066 restoration. It's on my bench now but I just needed to get the parts ordered. Jeff

EM84 grid (pin 1) voltage

I am still working on this radio (14 months later). Today, I measured -1 vdc at pin 1 (grid) of the EM84 magic eye tube when tuned into a strong FM signal. The phosphor bars are not closing at all when tuned to a strong signal. What is the correct range of voltages at pin 1 of the EM84 with a good FM radio signal?

Correction to the original post: I measured -1 vdc at pin 1 (grid). Not 48v as previously indicated. Verified R21 is 470k. Measured ~230v on other side of resistor. Need to investigate why there is only -1 v at the grid. Need to verify R15 2.2M (when I can locate the resistor).

Thanks for the reply Hans,
- Jeff

Hello Jeff,

see here http://www.radiomuseum.org/tubes/tube_em84.html

you can find, minus 22 Volts are neccesary to close the bars.

I think, the R21 = 470 Kohm is interruptet or  its value  is infinitiv.

When the Voltage on pin 9 ist to low, the bars are not closing.
